Joshua Page
My name is Joshua Page and I am in my 12th year of teaching music in the public school setting. My first two years of teaching I worked at Havelock High School (Havelock, NC) as a technology/media assistant. In this capacity I was able to work as an assistant to the band director and teach ensembles and individuals throughout the year.
Upon finishing and gaining my undergraduate degree in music education, I was offered the director of bands position at Smithfield Middle School (Smithfield, NC). I taught at SMS for 4 years. During my time at this school, I saw tremendous growth in both quantity and quality of musicians participating in my band class. While in this position, I had the opportunity to conduct the Johnston County All County Band, was awarded the Johnston County Employee of the Month, and was granted the Mr. Holland's Opus Music Grant which awarded the band program $12,000 worth of music instruments.
As my fourth year ended at Smithfield, an opportunity opened that I could not pass up. At this point in my career, I applied and was offered the position at Dillard Drive Magnet Middle School. This is where I currently teach band and chorus. Our program has seen tremendous opportunity for growth especially since COVID.
I enjoy the recruitment process of teaching band and love trying new marketing techniques and ventures to find what works best for our niche market. Each year is a new year and brings new opportunities for learning which I love to take in stride.
I have a growing family, a beautiful wife, two children (six and three), and a third on the way.

I firmly believe that fundamentals in music are what build musicians and ensembles. I liken it to the construction of a home, if the foundation isn't steady and solid, it doesn't matter how good the rest of the house is, it will not stand forever.
Thus, my focus is built on the fundamental aspects of how to play instruments and how to read music.

I have worked with many students one on one and have been a teaching mentor for the past two years. I currently teach private lessons at a local school of music where I have helped the owner, who is a strings player, begin a band portion of the school. Many of my students have gone on to do wonderful things.
