  • Music education in today’s society has become ever more important for a child’s intellectual growth. With the technology of today giving people results instantaneously, children are being cultured to absorb information in a superficial way. Many live experiences such as attending professional symphony concerts and other live performing events is a thing of the past for many average children growing up in the world today.

Music is an art that has the ability to touch the heart and reach the depths of the human soul. Music has many different meanings and values to all people across the world. Music provides us with many opportunities in order for us to create musical expressions of emotions, musical representations of people, places, and different cultures. Music gives people the opportunity to make connections in their life functionally, actively, and intellectually.

I, as a music educator, must have the drive to invest the time and energy needed to bring a true and meaningful experience to my students in the classroom. Those meaningful experiences will come from active music making in the classroom. The musical learning modalities of: speech, singing, moving and playing will be utilized to help unlock students’ creative potential throughout the learning process.
