Suyá Nascimento
Suyá emerges as a visionary composer and musician from the vibrant streets of Salvador, Brazil. Born with an innate curiosity and a relentless drive to explore the boundaries of sound, her journey began as a child experimenting with homemade instruments crafted from everyday items. This innate curiosity birthed an unconventional approach to music, one that transcends traditional norms and genres. As Suyá's exploration deepened, so did her mastery.
This multifaceted instrumental prowess would eventually converge into her own distinctive musical entity—the Synergy. Suyá's creative genius extends beyond instruments to digital realms. In the fusion of analog and digital, she crafts a symphony that resonates with emotions and memories. Her music flows as a living, breathing entity—a soundscape that bridges the past and the present, the personal and the universal. As she blurs the lines between sound and vision, her performances become immersive experiences, captivating audiences with a vivid journey into her subconscious.
In Suyá's world, music is more than notes and rhythms; it's a conduit for change, a catalyst for empowerment. She shares her artistry not just on stages but in classrooms, mentoring young minds and nurturing a new generation of creatives. Through her music, her mentorship, and her unapologetic authenticity, Suyá is a beacon of inspiration—an artist who transcends boundaries, challenges norms, and ignites a symphony of transformation.

My teaching approach focuses on fostering skill acquisition through personalized, holistic learning activities. Here’s how I design these activities:
1. **Individual Assessment**: I evaluate each student’s skill level, interests, and learning style to tailor lessons to their needs.
2. **Goal Setting**: Setting SMART goals (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time-bound) with students provides a clear development roadmap and keeps them motivated.
3. **Balanced Curriculum**: I integrate technical exercises, repertoire, theory, and creative projects to ensure comprehensive skill development and foster creativity.
4. **Active Learning**: Emphasizing hands-on practice, improvisation, and composition enhances technical skills and encourages students to explore and express musical ideas.
5. **Sequential Learning**: Lessons are structured sequentially, introducing new concepts gradually to build a solid foundation and ensure thorough understanding.
6. **Diverse Repertoire**: Selecting a repertoire that resonates with students’ interests keeps them engaged and broadens their musical exposure.
7. **Real-World Application**: Performance opportunities, recording projects, and collaborations help students apply their skills in practical settings.
8. **Feedback and Reflection**: Providing regular, constructive feedback and encouraging students to reflect on their progress promotes self-directed learning and growth.
9. **Adaptive Techniques**: I adapt my teaching methods to suit each student’s evolving needs, ensuring an optimal pace and level of challenge.
10. **Encouraging Independence**: I aim to develop independent learners by providing tools and strategies for effective practice, problem-solving, and continuous learning.
I create a dynamic, supportive learning environment that promotes skill acquisition and nurtures a passion for music. This approach ensures each student reaches their full potential, both technically and artistically.

As a seasoned mentor, cooperating teacher, coach, and 1:1 guide, my journey has been deeply rooted in empowering others through music and audiovisual arts. At Girls Rock Santa Barbara (2018-2022), I served as Lead Camp Coordinator and Stage Manager, mentoring children aged 6-17 in various instruments and music production. My hands-on approach ensured each camper received personalized guidance tailored to their unique talents, fostering a supportive environment for creativity and confidence.
At SYNERGYworX, an audiovisual synergistic production company I founded, I mentor emerging talents in music production and audiovisual arts. As CEO, I develop projects focused on spirituality and consciousness, providing detailed feedback, technical advice, and artistic direction through one-on-one coaching sessions to help individuals achieve their artistic goals.
As a self-taught multi-instrumentalist and touring producer with Suyá Synergy, I offer personalized instruction in musical direction, arrangements, electronic productions, and composition. Collaborating closely with artists, I provide tools and knowledge for career excellence, including stage plotting, logistics, hospitality, budgeting, and technical setup.
My role as an AV Director and Tech at Mills College solidified my mentoring skills. Specializing in videography, lighting design, and technical direction, I managed video and lighting gear for institutional events and mentored students and colleagues in DJing, audio engineering, and photography.
Throughout my career, I have prioritized one-on-one mentorship, understanding the profound impact personalized guidance can have on an individual's artistic journey. Whether through structured lessons, informal coaching sessions, or collaborative projects, I strive to inspire and empower those I mentor, helping them unlock their full creative potential.
