Soprano Fei Xia began learning piano at 9, before going on to pursue her vocal studies. She earned the BA degree in Music Education from Xinghai Conservatory of Music in China; the MM degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Miami and an Artist Diploma from Montclair State University. She recently earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Vocal Performance from West Virginia University. As a professional classical singer, she has been engaged by several opera companies including Vienna Opera Festival, NYLOP, Angels Vocal Arts Opera Company, Manhattan Opera Studio, Connecticut Lyric Opera Young Artist Program, and more.

Fei made her Carnegie Hall debut as Juliette in Romeo et Juliette with New York Lyric Opera. She was invited to perform again at Carnegie Hall, singing the role of Giulietta in Les contes d’Hoffmann. A prizewinner of numerous competitions, Dr. Xia was recently awarded Second Prize in the International Youth Music Competition.

Other accolades include First Prize in the following competitions: American Protege International Vocal Competition, Golden Classical Awards International Music Competition, “The Song” International Vocal Competition, and etc. Dr. Xia enjoys teaching vocal, piano, and music theory lessons. In addition to teaching with Singing with Lauren LLC, Dr. Xia also runs her own private music studio in New York City. She is also a vocal instructor at Growing Music Studio and Premier Music Studio in New York City. Previously, she served as Associate Vocal Faculty at West Virginia University Community Music Program.

 
 
  • My philosophy of teaching is that all students are different and have their own characteristics and music potential. As a teacher, I strive to ensure that my students enjoy studying voice. Also, my duty is to tap into their music potentials as much as possible. I feel obligated to gradually develop the music awareness of my students, and let them express music to the greatest extent. I am committed to providing a blissful environment where students can learn music with sheer joy and passion. Also, it is my responsibility to help develop the confidence in singing of my students to let them to be professional singers/artists. I envision making unique contributions to the position by striving to teach each and every student well. My instructional methodology is to cater to each student’s needs and preferences. I pledge to be punctual, responsible, and dedicated to my job. My reputation of being a terrific voice teacher with whom everyone finds very easy to works unblemished.

  • I am a classical singer with many years of performance and singing experience with professional opera companies in the US. I was trained by many opera companies since 2016. As a vocal teacher, I have been teaching vocal for over 8 years, and I previously worked with several music schools, studios, and community program at the university in the US and China. I have served and taught around 100 private students since 2016. So I am a professional singer and vocal teacher with many years of stage performance and teaching experience. My career goal is to be a successful vocal teacher and voice professor who is able to make my students achieve their goals in music learning and enjoy learning music. I like singing and teaching, they have made me feel comfortable and enjoyable.
